Virginia Beatrice McCrea Beacham, 92, made it to her heavenly home for Christmas. She passed away in Alamogordo on Christmas Eve. Virginia was born in Vidalia, LA on July 11, 1922 to Walter and Atta Beatrice Townsend McCrea. In 1943 she graduated from Louisiana State Normal College in Natchitoches and became an elementary school teacher. In 1946 she came West with Ruth Turpin Brown to teach for the Alamogordo Public Schools at North School. One year later Virginia married her husband of 53 years, Arthur "Buddy" McKinley Beacham and made Alamogordo her home.
Her family and friends will best remember her for her love of family, local history and flowers.
Virginia's parents, her husband, Buddy, a brother, Walter and two sisters, Gladys and Clarice, preceded Virginia in death. She is survived by her son, Ron Beacham and his wife, Josie of CA; her daughter, Gloria Killian and her husband, Jim of Alamogordo; five grandsons: Christopher Beacham and his wife, Rose Anne of CA, Steven Beacham and his wife, Kristina of CA, James Killian and his wife. Courtney of Minot, ND, John Killian and Josh Killian both of Alamogordo. Virginia was blessed to hold each of her six great-grandchildren: Chrisandra and Chanelle Beacham, Evelyn Beacham, Connor, Jacob and Caleb Killian. Her nephew, Jay Aronstein and his wife Adrienne of Louisiana also survive her, as well as many dear Beacham family nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Tularosa Basin Historical Society or to The Gideons.
