Roy Gene O'Brien, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on February 24, 2026, at the age of 82

Roy was born on May 2, 1943, in Fallbrook, California to Joe Simon O'Brien and Barbara O'Brien. He attended Escondido High School in Escondido, California.  On June 29, 1964, he married the love of his life, Flora Cox.

Roy was self-employed and proudly owned and operated Alamo Pewter Co. and O'Brien's Gifts alongside his wife, Flora, in Alamogordo, New Mexico.  A talented craftsman, he enjoyed restoring classic cars, creating beautiful figurines and jewelry in his workshop.  His creativity, skill and dedication to his craft were evident to all who knew him.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Joe Simon O'Brien and Barbara O'Brien; his beloved wire, Flora O'Brien; and his brother, Gordo O'Brien, and Gordon's wife, Teresa O'Brien.

He is survived by his daughter, Barbara Kay Montoya (John) of Alamogordo; three grandchildren, Amber Montoya (Jordan), Sean Montoya, and Alteria Ray (Zachia); and three great grandchildren, Zamira, Taniyah, and AKeyshaun.  He is also survived by three nieces, Cindy Dove, Debbie Dyson, and Launa Gunderson; and one nephew, David Khosavanna.

A private family service will be held at a later date.  Burial will take place at Monte Vista Cemetery in Alamogordo, New Mexico.

In place of flowers, a memorial contribution may be made to plant a tree in Roy's memory.

The family has entrusted their loved one to the care of PCS Direct Cremation Service.
