Nestor Milligan, 65

Beloved husband, brother and friend

Nestor Milligan, 65, a resident of Alamogordo, passed away Monday, October 27, 2008 at his home after a courageous battle with cancer.

Nestor was born January 24, 1943 in Aragon, New Mexico to Dan and Fedelina Milligan. After graduating from high school in Morenci, Arizona, he attended Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Arizona. He graduated in 1968 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education and later earned a Master of Arts degree from the same university.

Nestor had a thirty-one year career in education as a high school Spanish and French teacher. He taught for ten years in California, thirteen years in Arizona, and eight years in New Mexico. He was a dedicated teacher who held his students to high standards. Many former students wrote to him after they entered college to thank him for helping them reach their highest potential.

Nestor was an avid motorcycle rider and took many trips to the mountains of Colorado and New Mexico. He loved mountain country, especially Aragon, New Mexico, where, as a child, he lived with his beloved grandfather, John Milligan. He was also an animal lover and thoroughly enjoyed the family's cats and dogs.

Nestor is survived by his wife of 35 years, Susan of the family home; his brother, Dan Milligan and his wife Helen, his sister, Rose Chavez, his brother, Albert Milligan and his wife Geri all of Albuquerque, New Mexico; his brother, Father Richard Milligan of Phoenix, Arizona; his sister, Sister Adelia Milligan of Hernando, Mississippi; his sister-in-law, Judy Milligan of Munds Park, Arizona; his brother-in-law, Ralph Troutt and his wife Jan of Missouri; his brother-in-law, Allen Troutt and his wife Judy of California; and numerous other relatives.

Nestor was preceded in death by his parents, Dan and Fedelina Milligan, and his beloved brother, George Milligan.

Nestor loved the Lord, and prayed in his final days for those he would leave behind. He was so loved by his family and friends and will be greatly missed. His wife, Susan, will gently hold him in her heart until they meet again in heaven.

Graveside services will be conducted on November 6 in Aragon, New Mexico with Father Richard Milligan officiating.

The Milligan family has entrusted their loved one to the care of PCS to make their cremation arrangements. Cremation will take place locally at PCS.
