Lawrence Edwin Weber, 63
Lawrence Edwin Weber, 63, died May 26, 2011, with family by his side in Alamogordo, NM.
A memorial service will be held at 12:00 p.m., June 11, 2011 at VFW Post 7686 in Alamogordo.
He was born on February 15, 1948 to Edwin and Alberta Weber of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Larry joined the Air Force Reserves in 1967 and transferred into Active Duty in January 1968. He married his high school sweetheart, Sharon Gildemeister, of Germantown, Wisconsin the same year. Larry and Sharon traveled around the world while serving our great country. He was employed as an Aircraft Weapons System mechanic for the F-105 Thunderchief and later served as an Aircraft Engine Mechanic for the T-37 and A-7 Corsair. As he progressed in his career and knowledge, Larry became a Maintenance Instructor for the F-15 Eagle teaching young airman how to fix multi-million dollar aircraft. In 1990 after 22 years and 9 months of faithful service, Larry retired from the Air Force at the rank of MSgt. He continued to work locally helping and teaching others at the Opportunity Center and Zia Therapy Center for another 20 years. He was a life member of VFW Post 7686 and also served as their Commander from 2000-2001.
Larry enjoyed spending time with family, traveling and helping others in the community.
Mr. Weber is survived by his wife of 43 years, Sharon Weber of Alamogordo, NM; son, William and wife Natalie Weber of Sacramento, CA; daughter, Brenda and husband Fernando Cepeda of Miramar, FL; brother, Thomas and wife Sandy Weber of Milwaukee, WI; brother, James and wife Judy Weber of Kennebunk, ME; and 6 grandchildren.
