Johnny Ray (Josh) Burdine, 59
Johnny Ray (Josh) Burdine, 59 of Portales, NM died at home on June 27, 2008, following an extended illness. He was born on January 22, 1949, in Portales, NM, the eldest son of Rudy and Dorothy (Durrett) Burdine. The family made their home in Colorado, before settling in Portales, NM in 1950. Johnny Ray joined the US Marines in his senior year at Portales High School in 1967. He was stationed in Southern California, where he continued to live and work for many years, before returning to NM in 1993.
Josh was preceded in death by his parents, Rudy and Dorothy Burdine, and his youngest brother, Alan Burdine. He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Michael Ronnie and Kathy Burdine of Carlsbad, his oldest sister, Delynn Burdine Epperson of Flower Mound, Texas, his youngest sister and brother-in-law, Susan and Lonnie Berry of Portales, his beloved god-daughter, Leah Radatz of Santa Barbara, California, his many nieces and nephews, and all of his lifetime friends.
Graveside services for the family and close friends will be held at 11:30 AM Friday, August 1, 2008, at the Portales Cemetery, Portales, NM, with lunch following at the fellowship hall of First Baptist Church of Portales.
