Joe Flores, 74
Joe Flores, 74, passed away peacefully while asleep, at his home in Tularosa on March 25, 2008.
Joe, a lifelong resident of Tularosa, was born in 1933 and was one of twelve siblings born to Enriquez and Amelia Flores. Joe retired from Civil Service at Holloman Air Force Base and there after for many years, he worked at the Inn of the Mountain Gods in Mescalero.
He was a member of St. Francis de Paula Catholic Church having served as an alter server, assisted with the "y uncasos" for over 40 years at the annual fiesta and was a devoted adorer at the Perpetual Adoration Chapel.
He was of a very cordial and gracious nature with a very warm and pleasant smile and a most cute and cheerful greeting for every one, "Hey Papa", what's new en tu "vida". He was an outstanding award winner in football for the Tularosa High School Wildcats, active in the Fraternal Club and the Village Softball League. He will be missed and never forgotten by his family and friends.
He is survived by his son, Joe Paul Flores of Tularosa; stepson, Rudy Pacheco serving in Iraq; sisters, Jeni Alexander of Tularosa, Ramena Turner and husband Pete of Pensacola, FL and Helen Savoie of Alamogordo.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Betty, four sisters, Drucilla Huggins, Lola Chavez, Jo Ferguson, Rebecca Kersting and four brothers; Henry, Ted, Frankie and Johnny.
A Rosary will be recited by Josie and Matias Chavez at 7:00 pm on Sunday, March 30, 2008 at St. Francis de Paula Catholic Church.
Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Monday, March 31, 2008, St. Francis de Paula Catholic Church with Father Bruce Hausfeld, O.F.M., Celebrant.
Pallbearers include Paul Ribota, Jason Flores, Tony Chavez, Ronnie Chavez, Paul Alexander, Mark Alexander, Richard Alexander, David Ferguson, Kevin Turner, Alberto Armijo, Terrance Armijo and Kenny Flores.
A reception will follow the Rosary at the Parish Hall and a luncheon will follow the Mass at the Parish Hall.
Direct Cremation has taken place under the care of PCS Direct Cremation Services.
