Joe A. Armijo, 63
A Unique Individual
Joe A. Armijo, 63 of Alamogordo, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 14, 2008. He was born on October 5, 1944 in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico. Joe grew up in T or C & graduated from Hot Springs High School. He held various jobs during his lifetime, he maintained the grounds at the T or C Golf Course, was a Deputy Sheriff with Sierra County, and retired from New Mexico School for the Blind and Visually Impaired in Alamogordo. Joe was very talented & gifted, he could build and make anything out of nothing, and as someone described him "he was a unique individual".
Joe was in the New Mexico National Guard from March 1961 1965 and was honorable discharged due to a medical injury.
Joe is survived by his wife of 18 years, Connie (Ellinger) Armijo, and two stepdaughters, Becky Grant & Jennifer Golden. His two sons, Anthony Armijo of Connecticut, and Stephen D. Armijo of Las Cruces and their mother Clara B. Armijo, his mother Connie G. Clark and step father Bob, sisters, Helen MacNeill and husband Harry of Alamogordo, and Karen Jones of Las Cruces. One brother, Levi G. Armijo and his wife, Toni, of Las Palomas, NM, and step brother Richard of California. His precious granddaughter Megan Armijo of Minnesota and her mother Nancy. His nephews, Harry J. MacNeill, Jr., and Michael R. MacNeill of Alamogordo, David A. Bums of Washington, and Julius I. Jones of Las Cruces. His nieces, Andrea and LeiAnn Armijo of T or C., and his dear friend Jack Harmon of Ohio.
Joe was preceded in death, by his Beloved Grandparents Hermino & Telesfora A. Torres who raised him in T or C, his father & step mother, Adam B. & Violet Armijo, and older brother Andy R. Armijo, and sister Virginia Armijo.
As Joe's last request, cremation will take place and no formal services will be held. At a later date his two sons will spread his ashes by Caballo & Elephant Butte Lake, where he loved to fish and enjoyed time with his friends.
Cremation has taken place at PCS Direct Cremation Services.
