Jim Pat Wade Obituary

Jim Pat Wade, 87, of Alamogordo, New Mexico, passed away peacefully on December 20, 2025. Born on November 13, 1938, in Carlsbad, New Mexico, Jim lived a full life grounded in family, faith, and hard work.

A devoted husband, father, brother, and friend, Jim first married Jeanie Pruit in 1956, and together they raised four children while remaining active members of Hillcrest Baptist Church in Carlsbad.  Jim was also a member of the Elks for several years.  In 1977, he married Paula Whitley, with whom he shared many loving years until her passing.

Jim dedicated over 35 years to the crane and rigging industry before retiring from WIPP as a respected Hoist man in 2000. Known for his mellow nature, kind smile, and willingness to lend a hand, he taught his children by example the value of a strong work ethic and compassion for others.

He found joy in simple pleasures—riding motorcycles, coaching Little League, camping, and sharing his famous snow ice cream. A lifelong lover of country music, football, and open-road drives, Jim embraced every day with warmth and humor.   Jim found joy in life’s simple pleasures and shared that joy with everyone around him.

Jim is survived by his children Jimmy, his wife Norma, Mike, and Janna, her husband Randy, brother Leon, and sister Regina. Grandchildren Pat Wade, Hayden Wade, Dylan Puryear, Mason Puryear, Noah Puryear, and several great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruby and Jim Pat, his wife Paula, his sister Mary Karen Barker, his son Danny, granddaughter Jennifer Wade, and sister-in-law Melva Wade.

A private family celebration of life will be held at a later date.
