Jerry Rex Parsons (Papa Bear), age 85, of Tularosa, NM was welcomed into the arms of our Lord Jesus on September 2, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.
Jerry was born on February 21, 1939, in a temporary town near Conchas Dam, NM. During his childhood, Jerry lived in multiple cities and states but ultimately put down roots in the little village of Tularosa, NM. In 1961, Jerry met the love of his life, Edna Beanblossom (Parsons), and the pair were married on August 28, 1963. Out of that blessed union came three rambunctious but lovable sons.
Jerry worked as a carpenter in his early adult years but went on to be a career machinist for over 54 years. Jerry enjoyed many things in life including his family, hunting, woodworking, playing guitar, singing, and a good cup of coffee. His deepest passion was his relationship with Christ. Anyone who knew him could attest to his unwavering faith in the Lord.
Those left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 61 years, Edna Parsons; his three sons, Benny Parsons (Kathleen) of Odessa, TX, Jerry Parsons (Samantha) of Tularosa, NM, Lonny Parsons (Patsy) of Tularosa, NM; his sister, Claudene Bradley of Phoenix, AZ; his brother, Stan Parsons (Deborah) of Tularosa, NM; his grandchildren, Chessie Hollibaugh (Brandon), Kinsey Munoz (Fabian), Jerry Parsons, Shonda Jones (Tanner), Allison Starrett (Peyton), Daniel Parsons (Yesenia), Lonny Parsons Jr., Logan Parsons and girlfriend Caitlyn Bowman; his great grandchildren, Evelette, Londyn, Ryker, Weston, McKenna, Delaney, Jeremiah, Brody, Elijah Ralph, Madilyn, and Matthew; as well as many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Rex and Alene Parsons; his brother, Benny Parsons, his sister, Rita Nowell.
The family will be holding a Celebration of Life for Jerry at 2:00 pm, Saturday, September 7, 2024, at Tularosa Community Church.
In lieu of flowers, family or friends who desire to make a memorable contribution in Jerry’s name can do so to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or Shriner’s Hospitals for Children.
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”
