James ‘Jimmy’ Kitching Sr. passed away on the morning of September 16, 2021. Jimmy was born June 25, 1937, in Roswell, NM to Hugh and Lillis ‘Kit’ Kitching.
Surviving Jimmy is his daughter Leah Wink and husband Russell of Alamogordo, NM., son James Kitching Jr. of Alamogordo, NM, sister Deanna Davenport and husband Dan. Granddaughters: Kristi Teller and husband Daniel of Spring, TX. Sharee Layton of Stockdale, TX. Desiree Hughes and husband Dave of Alamogordo, NM. Grandsons: Steven Landin of Albuquerque, NM and Seth Kitching of Alamogordo, NM. And a great-granddaughter, Lily Teller of Spring, TX.
Jimmy joined the army at age 18 where he served as a cook. After his discharge from the army, he worked many jobs throughout the years, at Alamo Pipe and Supply and The Golden Spur. Eventually, he was able to carry out his passion for cooking when he worked at IGA/Lowe’s Grocery as the ‘BBQ Guy’.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date
