Jacob Granville Robinson 88 of Alamogordo, died Sunday October 12th in the family home in Alamogordo with his family by him. Jacob was born July 15, 1920 in Greenwood, Indiana to William A. and Effie M. Robinson. Jacob married Frances Kimbley of Indianapolis on October 1, 1946. They moved to Alamogordo in 1985 from Miami Florida for health reasons.

He joined the Army Air Corps November 7, 1939 and was stationed at Hickam Field where he manned guns during the Japanese attack in 1941. Jacob loved flying and was certified in A&P. He flew 76 missions in a B17 in the Pacific Theatre and later 35 missions in a B26 in the European Theater. On these missions he performed duties of navigator and gunner. He retired as a Master Sergeant May 30, 1960 and went on to work for Eastern Airlines in Florida for 20 years as a mechanic and tool designer.

Jacob was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Howard, Bill and Robert and sister Edith.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years Frances, son Curtis Robinson of Las Cruces, daughter and son-in-law Cindy & Rodney Westphal of Alamogordo, sisters Martha Wilson of Fortville and Beverly Hogan of Indianapolis, IN, eleven grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.

A memorial service with Military Honors will be held at a later date.

Direct Cremation will take place under the care of PCS Direct Cremation Services.
