Obituary for Douglas J. Ledbetter
Douglas J. Ledbetter of Alamogordo, NM left his earthly bonds and reached the heavenly realms on
Wednesday Oct 19, 2022. Douglas, known as Doug or Pastor Doug to most people, was a devoted
husband, dad, and Papa. He strove to follow our Lord with his whole heart after choosing to give his heart and
life to God when he was 16. His passion was to not only preach the Good News or Our Lord Jesus Christ, but
to show as a witness his faith and devotion through his life and deeds. Acknowledging his Master’s call to minister to small churches, he was not only a pastor, but also a computer
programmer and system analyst. This allowed him to serve with and for churches that could not afford a full
time pastor. He pastored churches in Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, and Texas, as well as supporting our
country and armed forces as a civilian contractor.
He was born and raised in Southern California and is survived by his two sisters, Shirley and Arlene, as well as
his three children, Warren (Lesley), Diane (Vernon), and Deborah (Brad), and three grandchildren, Elizabeth
(Rae), Jordan, and Joseph. He is also survived by the countless children and lives that he touched and who
knew him as their pastor and unofficial dad or uncle. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Mary, and his
parents William (step), Zola, and George.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 5, 2022 at 4:00 PM at First Baptist Church of
Alamogordo (1100 Michigan Ave).
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made in Doug’s
name to the Southern Baptist Lottie Moon Christmas offering for International Missions. Donations can be
made through your local Southern Baptist Church, First Baptist Church of Alamogordo
