Byron Edward Warren, 65

Byron Edward "Ed" Warren, 65, passed away on Sunday, February 6, 2011 in Cloudcroft, NM after a brave fight with lung cancer. Ed was born on Wednesday, December 19, 1945 in Charleston, Illinois to Kenneth "Bus" and Freda (Cohoon) Warren. He met and later married Halleen Sue Birch in Charleston, IL on October 30, 1975.

Ed served in the United States Navy for four-and-a-half years. He was a proud Letter Carrier for the U.S. Post Office for over 30 years and retired 10 years ago. He was a volunteer firefighter with the James Canyon Volunteer Fire Department for several years after his retirement. He loved playing golf with his friends, children and grandchildren. He also loved riding on his John Deere cutting grass in the summer and moving snow in the winter. When not busy with physical activities, Ed was an avid reader of western books. He was also a member of the Artesia Lions Club.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Halleen Sue Warren; sons; Douglas J. Warren & wife LeAnn and their children Corbin, Jared and Jessica of Cedar Crest, NM and Michael E. Warren of PA; daughter, Gina S. Warren & husband Wesley Schnell and their son Atlas of North Bend, WA; brother, Kenneth S. Warren and wife Brenda and sisters, Jane Houchin and Phyllis Combs.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Freda and father, Bus and his sister, Barbara Corbin.

He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather who was always willing to help any family or friend in their time of need. He will be greatly missed by all.

A graveside service in Illinois will be announced at a later date.

The Warren family has entrusted their loved one to the care of PCS to direct the arrangements. Cremation will take place at PCS.
