Bernard Hyde Obituary

Bernard Hyde (Bernie), a longtime resident of Alamogordo, NM and beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend to many, passed away on April 11, 2015. He would have turned 75 on June 8, 2015.

He was born in Saranac Lake, NY and later joined the Air Force in 1960. He served four years in the military and received an honorable discharge in February 1966. Bernie went on to work and retire as a mail carrier for the Unites States Postal Service.
His father and mother, Harvey and Beatrice Hyde preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife of thirty-two years, Barbara Hyde and his children, Rob Hyde and wife Tammie of Odessa, TX and daughter, Rhonda Moreno and husband Hector of Alamogordo, along with his four step children, Bill Chappell and wife Laruce of Edgewood, NM, Wes Chappell and wife Janice of Corpus Christi, TX, Sheri Hines and husband Loren of Albuquerque, NM and Cindy Chappell of Corpus Christi; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren are also included.

Bernie lived a long and varied life and was especially proud of his family. He was skilled in many areas of craftsmanship, but he loved woodworking and was known for making gifts for family members and taking on projects for various friends and acquaintances in his woodworking shop. He shared a love of cooking, hunting, fishing and NASCAR with his family.

Memorial services will be held on Thursday, April 16, 2015 at 11:00 am at the First Baptist Church in Alamogordo with Rev. Bart Montgomery officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Holloman Air Force Base Steel Talons Honor Guard.

The Hyde family has entrusted their loved one to the care of PCS Direct Cremation Service for cremation services.
